Richard Arlen Kern Sr

Richard Arlen Kern Sr., age 82 of Center Line, Michigan passed away on Sunday April 17, 2022, at home, surrounded by his family. Richard was born May 29,1939 in Ann Arbor, Michigan to the late Donald and Mary Kern. Richard was married at age 21 to the love of his life JoAnn for 61 years. He is survived by his wife JoAnn, brother Robert (Marjorie) Kern, son Richard (Anita) Kern Jr., son Steven (Lisa) Kern, daughters Lesley Arnold and Stacey Kern. He also has 10 grandchildren: Jacob Kern, Jacob Arnold, Victoria (Kyle) Wagenknecht, Dominic Arnold, Aaron Kern, Mallory (Alex) May, Zachary (Rebecca) Arnold, John Arnold, Theodora Kern, Josephine Arnold, and grandchildren by marriage, Ian and Claudia Kaiser. He is also survived by 3 great-grandchildren Anthony Virgona, Joelle and Jae Arnold. He was preceded in death by his sister Cleo (Carl) Williams. Richard graduated from Lincoln High School in Warren in 1957. He attended Lawrence Institute of Technology where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. He lived in the Kramer Homes Cooperative for 54 years. He retired from Detroit Diesel in 1994, as a metallurgist. He dedicated his life to learning, studying, and teaching the Bible to his family. Visitation will be held at Rudy Funeral Home 25650 Van Dyke Ave in Center Line, Tuesday, April 26,2022 from 10 am until 12:30 PM.
