August Samuel Haynes Sr.'s Obituary
August Samuel Haynes Sr, age 79, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, July 19, 2023. August was born on May 18, 1944, to August and Eileen Haynes in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Center Line High School in 1962, and later joined the Marine Corps from 1963-1967. He then started a career in roofing from 1969 until his retirement.
August left a mark on all who knew him. He was a husband, a dad, brother, grandpa, and a friend. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family and grandkids. He enjoyed having donuts and coffee with old friends and watching old westerns, Gunsmoke being his favorite. August had a way of making everyone he knew feel special in their own way. This is not goodbye but see you later and, in his words, “rock on”.
August is survived by his wife, Mary Haynes; his children, August “Gus” (Amanda) Haynes, Eric Haynes, Amber (John) Sweet, Adam (Lindsay) Haynes, Andrea Haynes; his stepchildren Robert (Daina)Decker, Kelly Decker, Joseph (Jennifer) Decker; Loved grandfather of 17 Grandchildren, 2 Great grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Eileen Haynes; siblings Pat Mero and Leonard Haynes. Memorial visitation will be held on Friday July 28, 2023, from 3-5 PM at Rudy Funeral Home 25650 Van Dyke in Center Line with a Memorial service at 5 PM.
