Calvin Junior Holmes' Obituary
Calvin Junior Holmes age 94 of Warren, died on July 23,2023 at Ascension St John Hospital in Detroit. Calvin was born on April 10, 1929, in Windsor, Ontario Canada to the late Leslie and Mary Holmes. He was predeceased by his wife Phoebe. Dear father of Calvin W. Holmes, Paula (Gordon) Ireland, Late Mark Holmes, Julia Stanziale and Lisa O’Brien. Grandfather of 5; Jason (Jennifer), Jamie, Loren, John (Christine) and Jordan (Chelsea). Great grandfather of 9; Preston, Makhi, Makayla, Mia, Brooklyn, Logan, Jace, Wade and Felix. Also survived by his sister Louella and predeceased by his siblings Audrey, Lenora, Donald, and Mary. Cal had served in the U.S. Air Force. He had worked for many years as a mechanic at Ford Motor Tractor Plant in Highland Park. He has always been active. In his free time, he enjoyed playing cards, especially Euchre, Cribbage and Michigan Rummy. Quite the dancer, Cal enjoyed dancing whether it was a good Polka or a ballroom dance, he would sweep the ladies off their feet with his agility. A diehard Detroit sports fan, Cal enjoyed watching the Tigers, Lions and Red Wings. Often you would find Calvin at the Sterling Heights Senior Center where he would participate in many of their events and hang out in his free time. Lastly, he will always be remembered for his Tarzan call, something he perfected over time and was always willing to imitate. No services are scheduled.
