I worked in Peacekeeping Operations (J3 PK) at National Defence Headquarters when Commodore Cogden was the Director General Military Plans and Operations. I was privileged to escort him and then Brigadier-General Romeo Dallaire on a staff visit to Cambodia and Israel. My enduring memories of that trip are of his presence, focus and sense of humour as we navigated our way through the diplomatic and administrative mazes related to the conduct of our business. He certainly helped to make my job easier. May the memories of your time together sustain you all during the difficult days ahead.
