Gwendolyn Dorothy Crabb's Obituary
Gwendolyn D. Crabb "Gwen" of St Clair Shores died on February 18,2013 at St John Hospital in Detroit. Dear Mother of Sandra ( Michael) Novak and Richard (Debra) Crabb. Grandmother of Andrew and Spencer Crabb. Sister of Joan Nicholson of Petrolia,Ont. and Donna Shouldice of Sarnia,Ont. Survived by many nieces and nephews. Gwen was predeceased by her husband Raymond M. Crabb, brother Carl Nicholson and her parents Lloyd and Marguerite Nicholson. As a youngster, Gwen worked in her parents resort called Kenwick On The Lake , in Brights Grove Ont.running the concession stands. The venue was a popular spot for dancing and hosted many of the Big Bands of the era.
After her marriage to her husband Raymond, they owned the Busy Bee Hardware in Eastern Market, Detroit where she spent most of her career. Along with the hardware store, Gwen was also the life blood behind the Marina News along with her husband and others. The Marina News was one of the first outdoors sports newspapers in Michigan. Gwen was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She always liked being with family. She especially enjoyed the company of her special friend Phyllis, her loving dachshund.
Gwen lived a full life and enjoyed puzzles, reading, cooking, gardening, homemaking, garage and estate sales. She was the " garage sale queen"often starting at 6 AM
