John Peter Horek II's Obituary
John Horek II, age 83, a lifelong resident of Warren, passed away on April 1, 2026. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on December 9, 1942, to the late John and Evelyn Horek.
John was the beloved husband of Linda Horek, with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Bryan (Bonnie) Horek and the late David Horek (previous wife, Sonjo). He was a cherished grandfather to Danielle (Kyle), Krystle (Travis), Leslie (Jon), Brittany (Brett), and Kelsey (Brian), and a proud great‑grandfather to Kendall, Paisley, Kolton, Benjamin, Everett, Evangeline, Linden, and Harvey.
A proud U.S. Air Force Veteran, John honorably served during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated his life to helping others and strengthening his community. Over the years, he served as a firefighter, police officer, college math instructor, truck driver and tour bus operator. His curiosity and drive led him to pursue a private pilot’s license. While raising his family, he also found time to serve as an assistant Boy Scout leader, shaping the lives of young people in his community.
John’s hobbies reflected his adventurous and creative spirit. His interest in real estate lead to him become a very successful real estate investor. He loved building and flying model airplanes with his son Bryan and was an avid motorcycle enthusiast. Above all, he treasured time spent with his family, who brought him his greatest joy.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 8th, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., with Military Funeral Honors taking place at 7:00 p.m.
