John "Jack" Francis Flanigan's Obituary
John “Jack” F. Flanigan age 90, a longtime Center Line resident, died on May 13, 2026 with his family by his side. He was born in Detroit to the late Thomas and Catherine Flanigan. Beloved husband of Dora (nee Brideau) for 68 years. Dear father of 5 children; Timothy (Sharon) Flanigan, Susan (Thomas) Wittek, Nancy (Neil) Hayner, Peggy Melkonian and Thomas Flanigan. Cherished grandfather of 12 Grandchildren, 9 Great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Ann Marie Flanigan and many other in-laws, nieces and nephews and an abundance of friends. He was preceded in death by his stepmother the late June Flanigan, brother Donald Flanigan and sister Eileen Flanigan. “Jack” as he was affectionately called, attended and graduated from St Clement High School Class of 1954 where he excelled in football and baseball there. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and worked for the U.S. Postal Service as a mail carrier for 35 years before retiring. Many people along his Center Line mail route knew Jack well and looked forward to his daily visits. Very proud of his Irish heritage, Jack enjoyed a good shot of his Irish Whiskey now and then, often given as gifts to him by his loyal customers at Christmas time. Many of those same people became lifelong friends. In his spare time he liked tending to his yard, just being outdoors or home watching and relaxing with a good Tigers or Lions game on TV. He was a lifetime member of the Fr Kramer Council Knights of Columbus. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 22, 2026, at St Mary Our Lady Queen of Families Parish (St Clement site) 25320 Van Dyke in Center Line. Gathering at 9:30 AM followed by 10 AM Funeral Mass and concluding with Military honors. Inurnment to follow at St Clement Cemetery.
