Monsignor John F. Schweder, passed from this life on January 4, 2020 at the age of 85.
Monsignor Schweder was born March 2, 1934 in Detroit, Michigan, and was ordained a priest on June 4, 1960 in Detroit, Michigan.
Monsignor Schweder served as Director of Evangelization, Catechesis, and Schools for the Archdiocese of Detroit and as Pastor of St. Joseph Parish, Detroit; St. Alphonsus Parish, Dearborn; Sacred Heart Parish, Grosse Ile; Holy Name Parish, Detroit; and St. Matthew Parish, Detroit. He also served as Administrator of St. Paul Albanian Parish, Rochester Hills; and St. Sabina Parish, Dearborn Heights, Michigan; as well as Parochial Vicar of St. Frances Cabrini Parish, Allen Park; St. Francis de Sales Parish, Detroit; Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish, Detroit; and St. Mary Magdalen Parish, Hazel Park.
Visitation for Monsignor will take place at St. Mary, Our Lady Queen of Families Parish, (St Clement site) 25320 Van Dyke, Center Line, Michigan 48015 on Thursday, January 23 from 9:30 a.m. until the celebration of his funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. Monsignor Schweder will be buried at St. Clement Cemetery.
Monsignor Schweder was predeceased by his parents, John and Agnes (Angel) Schweder, and his brothers, Thomas and Michael Schweder.
