Lorna Gudrun Holtzman's Obituary
Lorna Gudrun Holtzman age 89 of Warren, died after a long illness on October 15,2015 at St John Macomb Hospital in Warren. Lorna was born in Riverton, Manitoba, Canada, on January 27th, 1926, the daughter of Johannes T. and Lilja Jonasson. The 7th of eight children, she has been predeceased her parents and her siblings, Sigurlin Bergen, Valdina Thorsteinson, Inga Evans (of Detroit), brothers Hafstein (Joe), Oscar and Baldwin Jonasson all of Canada. She is survived by one sister, Amy E. Macdonald, of Calgary, Alberta, Canada.
Lorna was educated in Riverton and worked for many years in the Riverton Drug Store, assisting Dr. S.O. Thompson in its operation, after which she worked in Winnipeg prior to joining her sister Inga Evans in Detroit, where she worked for a number of years at Highland Park Travel Company In 1956 she married Herman (Norman) Holtzman of Detroit who predeceased her in 1993. They are both survived by their children, George (Linda) Holtzman, Shawn Holtzman and Laureen (Raymond) Stanford. Loving Amma of 9 Grandchildren and 3 Great-grandchildren. Also survived by countless nieces, nephews and friends. Lorna was an active and longtime member of Peace Lutheran Church in Warren. Visitation at Rudy Funeral Home 25650 Van Dyke,in Center Line,MI on Sunday, October 18, 2015 from 1 PM until 8 PM. Instate Monday 10 am at Peace Lutheran Church 11701 E. 12 Mile Road in Warren for 11 am Service. Cemetery private. Memorials to Peace Lutheran Church appreciated.
