Marvin Edward Sauger's Obituary
Marvin Sauger age 86 a longtime resident of Center Line, died on January 22, 2024. He was born in Detroit, MI to the late John and Anna Sauger. Married to Leah for “157 Years”. Dear father of Stacia (Patrick) McArthur and Ralph Sauger. Proud grandfather of Anthony (Amy) Sauger, Leah (Wade) Howard, Brett (Lauren), Erin and Kate McArthur. Loving Papa to Carson and Cameron Sauger, Brock, Brady and Brooklyn Howard. Dear brother of Regis, Ronald (Joan) and Richard “Butch” (Diane) Sauger. Predeceased by siblings Mary Hiznay, Margaret Elya, Martha Cummins, Stephen (Joanne) and Lawrence (Michele) Sauger. A graduate of St Clement, Marv was a U.S. Navy Veteran. In his early years he was a paper delivery boy and later worked for the U.S. Postal service as a postman. While his kids were in school, he coached at St Clement both baseball and football for many years all while working full time as a Macomb County sheriff. He retired as a sheriff after more than 25 years there. Part- time, he continued to work as a security officer for the DMC. Very much a people person, his retirement launched a whole new career as a Macomb County Commissioner for over 24 years. He thrived in helping the people in his community and was always a spokesperson and advocate for them. Marv could always find a way to “get it done”. A long-time member of St Clement Parish he also was active in the Knights of Colombus. A very athletic and active guy, Marv loved to golf and was great at it! He played a great game of baseball, bowled on a winning team along with his brothers and always made time to be at every game his grandkids and great grandkids played in. Myrtle Beach was his favorite” go to” place to visit whether it was to play golf or to just be with family. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and colleagues. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 29,2024 from 1-8 PM at Rudy Funeral Home 25650 Van Dyke in Center Line with a 6 PM rosary. Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 30,2024, 9:30 AM at St Mary Our Lady Queen of Families Church 25320 Van Dyke in Center Line followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM. Burial with Military Honors at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly on Thursday, May 9th at 12:30pm. In lieu of flowers, Memorials to Childrens Hospital appreciated.
