Phil Eugene Wendel's Obituary
Phil Wendel, age 94, of Warren, died June 24, 2025. Beloved husband of the late Florence. Loving father of David Wendel and Lisa (Edmond) Johnson. Cherished grandfather of Logan Johnson. Brother of Carol Reinhart and Max Wendel. Uncle of Christy, Carrie and Linda. Phil worked as an engineer and after retirement was a greeter for 14 years at Meijer of 16 Mile and Van Dyke. Phil was so well liked and brought a smile to many shopper’s faces, he was known as “The Mayor of Meijer”. He was also famous on the Sterling Heights Residents Facebook group. A funeral service with Army honors will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Road in Holly, on Friday, June 27th at 10:30am. Memorials to the family appreciated.
